|Opening date||May 5, 2002|
Announcement and constructionEdit
Construction on the attraction began October 15, 2001, when Aquarium was demolished. Wicked Twister was announced by park officials on November 20, 2001. The coaster's first steel pieces were erected onto the ride structure on December 15, and the first pieces of track were installed four days later, on December 19, 2001. The coaster's construction was complete sometime from January - April 2002.
The coaster held a media day on May 2, 2002, and opened publicly three days later, on May 5, 2002.
Before the park opened for the 2003 season, the park added two yellow supports to the ride's structure to connect the track to the top of the main support structure.
After the riders are loaded into the train, the train accelerates at 72mph out of the station and up the first hill. It then descends the hill backwards and up the other hill backwards. This pattern constantly continues throughout the ride's period, until the train hits the brakes and reenters the train station.
- Wicked Twister is the tallest and fastest inverted coaster in the world.
- Wicked Twister is part of Cedar Point's Fearsome Foursome Challenge, along with Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, and Top Thrill Dragster.
- In 2010, Bert Kreischer, comedian and star of the former Travel Channel show Bert the Conqueror, rode the Wicked Twister as part of the Fearsome Foursome Challenge.
